More than 1.5 million older people in Australia receive aged care services. The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing is modernising the aged care digital ecosystem, making it better-connected, automated, sustainable and bringing person-centred care into focus.

Fay Flevaras has led this effort, bringing together government, aged care providers, software vendors, and most importantly older people and their supporters to enable digital change. However as aged care – and the broader care economy – evolves, Fay and the department are exploring how digital best practices and interoperability can provide better health outcomes for all Australians throughout all stages of their life through innovative leadership and embracing innovation

Fay Flevaras is the Chief Digital Information Officer at the Department of Health and Aged Care. Fay is leading an ambitious agenda to enable Senior Australians, their families, providers, and others to have best in class digital experiences, and to create a better-connected aged care ecosystem that is consolidated, sustainable, automated, and modern. Internally, for Health, this includes transforming capabilities and culture to deliver quality and sustainable ‘people, process, and technology’ outcomes.

Previously Fay has worked in leadership roles for Services Australia, DXC Technology, Commonwealth Bank, and a number of other organisations, with a breadth of coverage across multiple industries and business functions. These roles often involved innovation projects that were ‘firsts’ for those organisations, delivering real transformation to business practices.

Fay brings people together to achieve common goals and is a natural leader, with a strong vision and a driving focus on engagement and collaboration. She is passionate about coaching and mentoring her team and investing in their future. Fay has a successful track record of delivering digital solutions that drive business benefits in complex environments.
