Originario di St. Louis, Missouri, Cedric Shannon Rives è un artista poliedrico che unisce talento musicale, teatrale e ministeriale. Cresciuto in ambiente ecclesiale, ha iniziato nel coro giovanile seguendo le orme paterne. A nove anni ha eseguito il primo assolo e a undici il primo concerto con orchestra, ricevendo standing ovation. Diplomatosi alla Central Visual and Performing Arts High School di St. Louis, ha perfezionato le sue competenze in musica e teatro attraverso corsi di ensemble vocali, jazz e musical. La sua carriera discografica include l'album di debutto "Psalms of Deliverance". Il secondo album "A Healing Place" conferma il suo successo nel gospel contemporaneo. Nel 1999 si è unito al cast del musical "Be Careful What You Pray For", interpretando Michael Jackson e contribuendo al successo dell'opera che è diventata il musical gospel con maggior incasso del 2000.
