Badger Trails 65th Annual Glacial Trail Hike
Hike, backpack and camp In Wisconsin’s beautiful Northern Kettle Moraine State Forest. This event can be backpacked over two to three days, camped for the weekend at one of two campgrounds or individually day hiked on any of the days. All campsites are shared during the event. The hikes range from 3.5 to 10 miles per day.
If you are unable to hike with us at the official event, you can hike the trails on your own at anytime this year and we will send you the limited edition commemorative patch and a trail map in the mail. See the event discussion to see the patch design.
Backpackers start the event with a 3.5 or 6.5 mile hike on the Greenbush Ice Age Trail Segment Friday evening and spend Friday night at Greenbush Group Camp Ground. There is a 10 mile hike on the Parnell Ice Age Trail Segment from Greenbush to Long Lake Recreation Area Campground, or a 5 mile hike from Greenbush to Parnell Tower on Saturday. Campsites are provided at Long Lake Recreation Area on Saturday night and participants begin the final 10 mile hike to Mauthe Lake Recreation Area Campground on Sunday. Throughout the event, Badger Trails provides periodic checkpoints, water stations, manned road crossings and shuttle services. Although we encourage participants to take part in the entire event, we also accommodate those who are interested in camping at one location for the duration of the event and hiking part of the trail or simply coming for the day to day hike part of the trail. We shuttle you back to your vehicle every day so you are never without your vehicle and can choose to backpack as much or as little gear as you like during the event. The entire hike is a moderately difficult trail approximately 27 miles in length, and is a perfect event for those that want to practice or teach backpacking skills.

A new section has been added to the Greenbush Ice Age Trail Segment! We have a new 6.5 mile Friday hike from the Greenbush Ice Age Trailhead to Greenbush Group Camp or 3.5 mile hike from Julie Court to Greenbush Group Camp.
