🌿 Community Altar Invitation
You are warmly invited to bring a small, meaningful item that represents your lineage, heritage, roots, and global gratitude! No pressure to participate, but if you wish, bring items to showcase. This could include a photo, fabric, jewelry, trinket, or even a small food item to share (with ingredients labeled please). Together we will co-create a community altar as a living expression of our collective gratitude, to honour while we dance!

💫 Opening Circle
At 7:00 we will begin with opening announcements, then those who feel called can briefly share the meaning behind what they’ve brought before placing it on the altar. This is a space for pride, storytelling, connection, and witnessing one another. Through music, movement, and shared intention, we honour the beauty of our roots and the threads that weave us all together.

As we dance, may we celebrate  love for our identities, and the universal language of music and movement. Dance is our common ground, our medicine, and our connection. Come as you are. Bring your roots. Move with gratitude. 🌍💖

 

Rooted in rhythm and revolution, DJ Exclamation Heart is a queer, neuro-spicy, and disabled artist who punctuates love when weaving tunes !!! 💓 !!! She has an embodied knowing that music is good medicine, and curates music to entwine collective joy, emotional release, and ecstatic connection. Every beat is a love letter to listeners 💌 where we can rejoice in our collective love of music, that was written in the stars ✨

 

Influenced by the healing power of movement 💃🕺 and the sacred chaos of the human experience, Exclamation Heart plays with intention and appreciation for the messages sung and strung by the artist that inspires her. Her mission is clear: to create safer, soul-charged spaces that celebrate diversity and awaken our wild within ✨💜✨

About Dance Temple:

Dance Temple Campbell River is a monthly event that offers the community a space to move the body with a live DJ in an inclusive and sober environment at the Willow Point Lions Hall from 7-8:30pm (doors open at 6:45pm).

$20 CASH at the door (sorry, we are NOT able to accept any other forms of payment).

Please use the main entrance to the Willow Point Lions Hall on the Island Highway.

DANCE TEMPLE AGREEMENTS::

In this space we collectively agree to:

*No talking on the dance floor

*No outdoor shoes

*No cellphones

*No instruments

*No photography or video recording

*No drugs, alcohol, or other intoxicants

*Shirts must remain on for all genders

Dance Temple Welcomes children.

- Children are welcome on the dance floor area provided that they are accompanied & closely minded by their adult and within arms reach (for example; dancing beside their parent or guardian).

- No speaking on the dance floor

- No toys

- During the opening and closing circles children will remain quiet with their adult so that people speaking in the circle can be heard. If this is not possible, we ask that their adult remove them from the circle

ON BOUNDARIES & TOUCH:

We recognize that touch and physical proximity can mean different things to different people. In this space we practice self-awareness of our own bodies and awareness of the ways in which we engage with the moving bodies of others. We practice respect of the personal space of others. We define consent as freely given, ongoing and an enthusiastic agreement for mutual participation. Understand that you are not obligated whatsoever to engage in any contact with anyone.

WHEN APPROACHING OTHERS:

*Make no assumptions! Look for a clear yes, look for eye contact

*Respect any no (including when someone is ignoring you or moves away from you)

* Respect a Solo Dancer’s right to their space

* Do not engage in physical touch without clear consent
