Description:
Join the Wilcox Historical Society for a special spring day trip to Marion and Greensboro, Alabama! This guided experience includes tours of four historic properties, a catered lunch, and a day filled with history, architecture, and fellowship.

Our stops include:

🏛️ Reverie (c. 1858) – A Greek Revival masterpiece listed on the National Register, known for its Doric columns, intricate plasterwork, and inlaid wood flooring.

🏡 Lockett–Martin House (c. 1840) – Built for Napoleon Lockett and tied to an important piece of American history, this home is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

🍽️ Marion Female Seminary (est. 1835) – One of the earliest women’s colleges in the United States. The 1850 building later housed Nicola Marschall, designer of the first Confederate flag and uniform. Lunch will be served here.

🌿 Magnolia Hall (c. 1858) – A striking Greek Revival mansion in Greensboro designed by B.F. Parsons, featuring the rare amphiprostyle design with matching columned porticos front and back, soaring ceilings, and elegant architectural details.
