He specializes in Conflict Archaeology, with an emphasis on the American Revolution. He has written eight books including as co-author with Kevin Dougherty, Leading Like the Swamp Fox (2022), and South Carolina in the American Revolution: Profiles in Leadership (2025) both with Casemate Publishers.
