AMGA Single Pitch Instructor (SPI) Course

The AMGA Single Pitch Instructor (SPI) course prepares climbers to instruct and manage single-pitch rock climbing programs in outdoor settings. Designed for aspiring guides, educators, and experienced climbers, this course focuses on professional instruction, risk management, site organization, anchor systems, belaying, lowering, rappelling, and teaching movement skills.

Participants will develop the skills needed to supervise climbers in top-rope environments while maintaining consistent instructional standards and sound decision-making in real outdoor terrain. The course emphasizes clear communication, effective teaching progressions, and practical systems used in guiding and educational programs.

This SPI course is taught by an AMGA SPI Provider and follows current AMGA curriculum and assessment standards. Instruction takes place on classic single-pitch climbing terrain in the Camden area.
