THE MAGIC CITY TRIO:
Despite their name, the band play mostly as a seven piece, led by Frank Sweeney (ex-June Brides, though you’ll also have heard him on records by Primal Scream, Felt, Jasmine Minks and many more) and Annie Holder (Annie and the Aeroplanes).   The ‘Trio’ take their inspiration from pre-war country music, through to modern hillbilly noir. Using this as a platform to develop their own song writing resulted in their debut LP ‘Amerikana Arkana’. Their songs occupy the world of murder ballads, outlaw stories and songs of loss and dust bowl depression. In 2022 they released their second self-titled LP ‘ The Magic City Trio’, which took on the influences of 60s Nashville Sound and the Psychedelic Cowboy Music of Lee Hazlewood.

THE GROOVY CELLAR.
Formed in 1991 and named after a neo-sixties club in London in the early 80s, this more than hints at the musical direction they are heading in.  In addition to three albums, the group has released a series of singles and EPs for Twang!, Marsh-Marigold and Firestation Records.  They have shared the stage with artists as diverse as Cleaners From Venus, Ian Brown, Television Personalities, The Movement and The Stone Foundation.   In spring 2023, they successfully played their first concerts in the UK together with The New Fools and were part of the Ramstein Doku Centre’s ‘Ram(m)stein, Ramones & Lois Lane’ exhibition about the influence of US troops on the lives and culture of the German population. Clearly influenced by the classic songwriting of the sixties, THE GROOVY CELLAR are simply pop, or – let’s say – indie-mod-pop would be more accurate.

THE FOOLS:
The New Fools are dead, long live The Fools (with a little help from their friends)!  They may only last for two gigs but The Fools will be playing a selection of songs The New Fools recorded over seven years and five acclaimed albums.   There will be a bit of Indie-Pop, a bit of Powerpop, some Northern Soul and maybe even a bit of Folk!   There will almost certainly be a singalong too!
