- **Event Description**: This is a special one-day group singing workshop designed for people who love to sing and for those who want to try something different. Julian and Laura are highly experienced song leaders; skilled at getting groups of people to learn different styles of songs quickly and playfully. They are used to working with all types of voices and know how to encourage singers to explore their vocal capabilities in order to sing out freely and joyfully.

What to expect:
A safe and supportive environment for you to free your voice and be uplifted by singing in harmony with other people. The songs offered will come from different places and cultures, as a way of recognising our shared humanity through music. Songs will be taught by ear, mostly in four parts, with lyrics projected for everyone.

About the Song-leaders:
Julian Raphael is a composer, arranger and song leader, and has been a champion for community choir singing in NZ for the past 20 years. He founded the Wellington Community Choir and directed it for 15 years. He and his partner Laura Durville have led singing as a duo for over 10 years, and, after settling in New Plymouth, started the Taranaki Singing Venture; a vibrant group of people from all walks of life who cherish singing together. Julian is also an exponent of male group singing and directs the Taranaki Songmen with his own arrangements of popular songs from past decades.
