(Junk) Book Binding - Small Works Artist Workshop

Bring your old sketchbooks, drafts, prints, junk mail, anything on paper! Inspired by collage, junk-journaling, and DIY zine-making, participants will bind their own “junk books” using a drum-leaf adhesive method. Demonstrations include drum-leaf binding, accordion fold basics of paper weight and grain, and proper adhesive use. Open to all levels, experimentation encouraged!

Participants must bring:
Old sketchbooks, prints, letters, junk mail, drawings, any desired paper material that will be used for their book

Gallery-provided materials included in registration cost:

bone folders, UHU sticks, newsprint/waste paper, roll of wax paper, rulers, cutting mats

About McCall

McCall Hollister (b.1997, they/them) is a collector, an educator, a museum worker, a speculative geologist, and a bookmaker. Their research interrogates collection practices and the limits of (auto)biography through their collection of 800* rocks, stones, bricks, and other ephemera. Hollister received their BA in Arts & Humanities from Michigan State University in 2019, and their Masters in Fine Arts and Museum Studies from the School of Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University in 2024.
