Pray accept this notice of a most agreeable assembly.
You are cordially invited, on the 7th of March, from 7:30pm, at Gibson Hall, Downing Place United Reformed Church, to The Jane Austen Evening, an entertainment of elegance and good cheer, wherein all may delight in graceful dancing, convivial refreshment, and the pleasure of excellent company. The evening shall be enlivened by the charming strains of music performed by Mooncarrot, whose talents promise to set both feet and spirits in motion.
All who esteem civility, accomplishment, and a turn upon the floor are encouraged to attend, suitably disposed to mirth and merriment. Come prepared to indulge in society, to partake of light repasts, and to enjoy an evening conducted in the finest Austenian manner.
All dances will be taught with expertise and good humour by our esteemed callers, and it is expected that a dance card featuring brief descriptions will be made available to guests.
We also implore you to contribute a dish for our table, for nothing so delights the company as a well-furnished board. Should you feel inclined toward the authentic flavours of the Regency, you will find them particularly admired; yet be assured that every offering, whatever its character, shall be received with the warmest gratitude.
Pray favour us, if you can, with such delicacies as may be conveniently taken in hand, as our arrangements shall not extend to the provision of cutlery.
Should you wish, regency attire, or black tie, would be particularly welcome, but your good self is all that is required.
We remain,
Your most obedient and humble servants,
The Round
