I was introduced to goalball when I became blind when I was 19. Not typically a sporty person at school, I loved goalball for the community and wanted to set up a local team. Since I joined friends in founding The Cambridge Dons Goalball Club in January 2012 our club has grown to become one of the biggest in the country. I’ve seen players join as children and go onto score goals in tournaments and progress through the levels of goalball in the UK. I’ve seen six Dons players go onto represent team GB. We have three current club members in the GB talent pathway. The Dons has given people  who may not otherwise have the opportunity, to play a team sport. Seeing visually impaired children playing a sport on a level with their siblings is one of the most rewarding parts of being a part of this club. We are not only a community sports team, we are a community of like-minded blind and partially sighted people who support each other on and off the court and who learn from each other no end. 
Personally, I learned a huge amount about living with a visual impairment through meeting other young visually impaired people through goalball. I travelled independently across the country for the first time, I made lifelong friends, I’ve had so many key experiences and gained so many skills through opportunities afforded to me from being a part of The Dons. 

Ultimately, I would love for you to join me and the rest of my wonderful team at this fundraiser for our amazing club.
