Over the next few months we will once more bring four speakers to explore, examine and dissect the writing behind the beautiful game.Spanning non-fiction, journalism and academic writing forms, each speaker will offer a unique perspective from their personal and professional experiences on how writing around football functions, and what it seeks to do in each specific space it finds itself in.Each event will take attendees deep into their respective world, with audiences invited to engage in discussion and questions at the close. All events are entirely free and open to all.First up on Tuesday 25th November at 6pm, we welcome Kate Mason. Kate is a broadcaster with over a decade’s experience presenting live sport. This year she was shortlisted for SJA Columnist of the year for her writing in the Metro - the paper's first ever nomination. In 2023 she was also awarded at the SJAs in the audio documentary category for her series Inside the Qatar World Cup, in collaboration with the Football Ramble podcast. Away from football she won critical acclaim when she became the first woman to present an England men’s Test series for UK television, with their 2024 tour ofIndia.Kate is currently writing a book on community in sport, and her search for her own tribe. She joins us to discuss this, and footballs journey from past to present - 'The old guard vs the new fan: Is it possible to tell football in a new way?'.
