The Fall 2025 sessions will be facilitated by Cassie Laskowski. Dance as Healing supports participants in tethering their emotional, intellectual, energetic, and physical bodies to achieve a sense of calm and harmony in their day to day lives. Under the leadership of a movement therapist, we will explore how we can use movement to process and regulate emotion individually and in community, and we will ask: what tools can we embody to manage stress/anxiety and foster connection?Thanks to the generosity of anonymous donors, the course is offered at no cost. If you would like to support The Click and more programming like this, there is the option to reserve your spot for a donation of your choosing. Please choose either free admission or donation, but not both, as this will limit others' ability to register for class. Class is capped at 15 participants.We are running two sessions through Fall 2025, each consisting of six classes. Session 1 will run from September 16 to October 21, and Session 2 will run from November 4 to December 16 with no class on November 25. Concepts and tools will be built upon from week to week. We encourage you to attend the full six-week arc for the best experience, but we understand that this is not always feasible and welcome folks to drop in as they are able. Make sure to bring a journal or recording device you can use to reflect.Class will be held in Studio 7 of The Dance Complex, which is on the ground floor of the building. All participants who are able to climb stairs are asked to climb the marble staircase to check in at the front desk before returning down the back staircase to Studio 7. For those for whom climbing stairs is difficult, please let us know so that we are prepared to let you in via the ground floor door. There are two gender neutral bathrooms inside Studio 7.Please note: This class intends to bring therapeutic tools into a non-clinical, communal dance setting; the class is not group therapy.COURSE STRUCTUREClass 1: Exploring movement through the 5 sensesClass 2: Playing with Weight, Space, Speed, and FlowClass 3: Fostering Group ConnectionClass 4: Getting Vulnerable with Authentic MovementClass 5: Offering consensual touch through movementClass 6: Embodying our ReflectionsCLASS TIMINGEach class will be a structured 75min of movement, discussion and reflection. Time will be set aside at the beginning and end of each class for participants to ease into and out of the space. We hope that this supports a natural transition into and out of the therapeutic concepts we will explore.CLASS POLICIESRegistration prior to arrival is required.Please note that we have a grace period of 15 minutes at the start of class for late arrivals. Students arriving more than 15 minutes late will not be permitted into class. Cassie received her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Dance/movement therapy in 2023. A mover since childhood, Cassie has always believed movement to be a powerful tool for self-expression and continues to seek ways to connect with community to share the healing experience of movement.
