Bulgarian Christmas Party "Winter is Coming!" (English invite)

The “Little Bulgaria” charity invites you to the Bulgarian Christmas party “Winter Is Coming!” on Saturday, 13 December. Let’s immerse ourselves together in the spirit of Bulgarian Christmas traditions with plenty of music, dance, and good cheer!

We’ll open the festivities with a brief story about koledarstvo (traditional carolling). The programme features Bulgarian folk music and open dance lessons from our folk ensembles so everyone can join the rhythm. Our international friends will enrich the evening with Christmas dances from their own cultures. We’ve prepared a best Christmas dish contest—write to us if you’d like to join the jury! There will also be a Christmas workshop with folk themes for the little ones. We’re expecting Santa Claus, who will give a sweet treat to every child.

Joining us: Bulgarian Folk Dance Cambridge, Folklore Fitness “Balkan Dance” – Cambridge, Folklore Fitness “Friends” – Bury, and the Bulgarian Orthodox Community in Cambridge.
Wear a Bulgarian folk costume, shirt, or folk-style accessory to showcase the beauty of Bulgarian attire! Bring homemade dishes and drinks for our shared table.

Good to know: The venue is in central Cambridge—plan to arrive a bit early and use the time before the event to explore the beautiful city. It’s also easy to reach by train—from the station there are convenient buses and a pleasant walking route to the centre.

ADMISSION: £8 per adult (covers hall hire, venue staff, gifts for the children, etc.).
Children under 15: free (seating not guaranteed).

CAPACITY: up to 350 adults—200 seated and 150 standing.

• Queen Anne Terrace (CB1 1ND) – ~9–10 min walk; pay 16:00–18:00; after 18:00: FREE. Capacity: ~900.
• Adam & Eve Street (CB1 1DX) – ~2–5 min walk; pay 16:00–18:00; after 18:00: FREE. Capacity: 35.
• Norfolk Street (CB1 2LD) – ~2–4 min walk; usually charged until 18:00; after 18:00: FREE. Capacity: limited.
• Gwydir Street (CB1 2LW) – ~10–12 min walk; pay 16:00–18:00; after 18:00: FREE. Capacity: 40.
• The Grafton – West (CB1 1HE) / East (CB1 1PS) – ~1–3 min walk; pay 16:00–18:00 (day rate); after 18:00: £1.20/hour. Capacity: West ~280 / East ~870.
