Our Cultural Consultant Helen Ransom is a Palawa woman with a strong connection to her community and culture. Building on her experience in the Vocational Sector in Tasmania, Helen guides businesses and organisations to connect with Aboriginal Tasmania to support their cultural growth and provide inclusive workplaces and spaces for their First Nations staff and/or clients.
Helen was an integral member of the Deadly People in Construction team in 2025, and has worked with many organisations in Tasmania including Master Builders Tasmania, CCF, TasNetworks, Hansen and Yunken, Sorell Council and Business and Employment Southern Tasmania to improve outcomes for First Nations Tasmanians. Helen is currently the First Nations representative on the Hobart Jobs Network Taskforce.
Participants will be given an introduction to:
• The importance of creating welcoming and safe organisation for First Nations people,
• Understanding how to attract and retain First Nations people to your workforce, and why we might do this differently,
• What creating these changes in your organisation might look like.
There will be plenty of room for questions and conversations.
Morning Tea and Lunch will be with our Deadly Program participants.
