Nacido en Úbeda, fue nombrado Hijo Predilecto de la ciudad en 2025. Con su novela La ciudad de las luces muertas (Destino, 2026) obtuvo el Premio Nadal.Su tercera novela, La península de las casas vacías (Siruela, 2024), se convirtió en un fenómeno internacional con más de 500.000 ejemplares vendidos. Fue uno de los libros más vendidos de 2024 y 2025 y ha sido traducida a 19 idiomas, entre ellos francés, alemán, italiano y portugués.
