He has devoted himself to the study of comparative politics, international relations, and political history. Dr. Guevara Mann is the author of Panamanian Militarism: A Historical Interpretation (Ohio University Press, 1996) and Political Careers, Corruption and Impunity: Panama’s Assembly, 1984–2009 (University of Notre Dame Press, 2011), as well as numerous articles on political and historical topics.He is a professor of Political Science at Florida State University, Panama, where he also directs the Master’s Program in International Affairs. Previously, he taught at the University of Nevada, Reno, and Universidad del Norte in Colombia. He was a Fulbright Fellow of the U.S. Government (1991–1993); a Latin America 2000 Fellow at the University of Notre Dame (1995–1999); and a fellow of Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2022).Dr. Guevara Mann has distinguished himself as a columnist in Panama’s leading newspapers, a commentator on political issues, and a consultant to the United Nations World Food Programme. He is a member of several civic and cultural organizations.
