Brigid’s Cross

A Brigids Cross is a symbol intended to bless your home and traditionally hung above your door to ward off evil, fire and hunger. The tradition marks the beginning of spring, welcoming Imbolc.

Brigids Crosses are typically woven on Jan 31 (St Brigids Day Eve) and hung above the door on February 1. This practice originated in the 17th century and is still practiced today, especially as an important symbol in Ireland.

Who is St Brigid?
She is an ancient Celtic goddess! Brigid is the only female of the Irish patron saints. She is known as for healing, creativity, fertility, and compassion. She was a world leader for equality and inclusiveness.
