Nothing beats the flavor and chewy texture of sourdough bread, and the aroma and taste of a warm, freshly baked loaf right from your oven. Broaden your bread-baking skills with Eva’s Traditional Bread workshops. My workshops, held at the Oak View Community Center Kitchen. My classes are a great introduction to sourdough culture/starter. Who knew baking could be so much fun?!
Look forward to a fun, hands-on session going over everything you ever wanted to know about using and maintaining a wild-yeast, naturally- fermented sourdough starter. Concentrate on the intricacies of creating a well-structured loaf with beautiful crust and crumb.
We’ll make a whole-grain sourdough loaf, practice scaling ingredients, mixing and developing dough strength over a series of stretch and folds. Practice shaping, scoring, and sample with tasty accompaniments at the end of class. Finally, everyone will go home with a beautifully scored, fresh-from-the-oven loaf of sourdough bread, plus the sourdough starter!
There is more to the process of breadmaking than simply making a nice healthy loaf. This process is greatly empowering and intellectually satisfying. The magic of flour, water, salt and fermentation—activated by two hands and sophisticated observation skills—can only be experienced.
