Calgary’s Wednesday Night Big Band is proud to feature Pat Belliveau for our December 3rd performance at 7:00 PM at Dickens Pub. Pat is a renowned Canadian saxophonist who first cut his teeth with this band as a young player. Those early years helped shape the musician he would become, and in turn, Pat’s energy, sound, and musicianship helped shape the band during its formative decades. Since then, he has built an exceptional international career, performing at major jazz festivals worldwide and touring with legends such as the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, Mel Tormé, Vic Damone, and Terry Gibbs. He has shared the stage with icons including Herbie Hancock, Randy Brecker, Bob Mintzer, Clark Terry, Doc Severinsen, and many more, and appears on more than 55 recordings.
Pat has been a steady presence in Calgary’s jazz community for decades and has performed with the Wednesday Night Big Band many times over the years. Featuring him in this way makes for a truly special night. And the band itself is part of what makes this performance exciting: a lineup of top-tier Calgary jazz musicians, standout soloists, creative arrangers, and the tight, dynamic ensemble sound that has become a trademark of the group. Whether you’re coming to hear Pat, to support a favourite musician in the band, or simply to enjoy great big band jazz at Dickens, this night brings together two stories that have been intertwined since the beginning — and promises exceptional music from start to finish.
$20 at the door.
