Sport Business Roundtable 2019
You are invited to attend the Sport Business Roundtable on Wednesday March 20th, 2019 at the Riddell Library and Learning Centre at Mount Royal University. The roundtable will be held from 9am-1pm. We value your voice in an important conversation about the future of sport in our community.
After the November 2026 Olympic bid plebiscite, many in the sport business community have questioned our city and region’s vision for sport and recreation. Are we a great sport city and region? And if not “where do we go from here?" It is this last question that was the genesis for this Roundtable.
This discussion will focus on Calgary and the Bow Valley as a great sport city and region. However, we also recognize that sport business is not an end unto itself, but a critical driver of a bigger vision of the future of our city and region. At the Roundtable, our goal is to capture the passion and expertise of the attendees and start to explore a process to define the future role for sport business in our community.
The Roundtable will consider three questions critical to the future of sport in our community:
What are the measurable factors that define a world-class sport city?
How does sport business tangibly contribute to the bigger vision of our city?
What is the pathway for Calgary to becoming a world-class sport city?
We don’t suggest, as a group, we will be able to answer these complex questions definitively, but as a sport business community, we will start to unpack each and explore a future vision and pathway together for sport business in Calgary and our region.
We would be honored to have you participate. Once registered, further details will be provided. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask our program coordinator: Alexandra Swiston, YXN3aXN0b24gfCBtdHJveWFsICEgY2E=.
We look forward to your participation!
