MIP Program - Full Day SRH and MMH Workshop
Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention
Course Length: 7.5 hours
This course provides a hands-on opportunity to learn and apply the workshop content which includes: your job your body, the principles of safe lifting, safe manual materials handling, and safe resident handling.
The purpose of the course is to assist CCSA and Alberta Continuing Care facilities in achieving the following:
Reduce the frequency and severity of musculoskeletal injuries
Update industry programs
Provide a framework for program development for facilities currently struggling in this area
Identify specific MIP issue needs and pains
Review and deal with patient care issues during repositioning and transferring
Introduction to Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention
Safe Manual Material Techniques
Safe Resident Handling Techniques
By providing a combination of class-room instruction and student participation we are able to provide a complete understanding of effective Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention. The most important component is the opportunity to practice the safe lifting/handling techniques and receive immediate feedback in a safe learning environment.You will be challenged to think analytically and abstractly regarding various aspects of the work environment that may lead to potential hazard, harm or loss.
