This unique urban natural area is home to an active beaver lodge and serves as an important wildlife sanctuary.Working in partnership with the City of Calgary, volunteers will help remove invasive plant species, including tansy, Canada thistle, sow thistle, burdock, and mugwort (wormwood), creating more space for native plants such as goldenrod, fleabane, and willow to flourish. If we’re lucky, we may even catch a glimpse of the resident beaver family during the event!The City of Calgary will provide all tools, gloves, safety equipment, guidance, and disposal of plant material. Volunteers are encouraged to wear closed-toe shoes, long pants, long sleeves, and bring a reusable water bottle.All training and equipement are provided. All that's needed is a willingness to learn and to get your hands dirty.The event is free. It's part of a four-part series this summer. Come any or all of the events in this series.
