Download YYC: The Art of Conversation - Having Conversations That Matter
Alberta Music welcomes members and guests to join us for the launch of our 2019 Download Educational Season!
Our first event, The Art of Communication - Having Conversations That Matter, will provide attendees an opportunity to work on their 'pitching' skills.
The ability to describe your music, when it matters most, is a key skill that can mean the difference between getting that gig, getting on air, working with that producer, or immediately being forgotten. Do you know what to say when you're at a conference and you meet a booking agent, festival buyer, radio personality, or agent? Do you know how to sell your sound so that anyone you speak to will remember what you said? Do you know how to write about your music so industry people will listen to it and give you a chance? At this session, we'll give you tips on how to have conversations that matter, and you will also have a low-stakes opportunity to practice with (friendly!) members of the music industry.
Come prepared to network, and bring your draft 'elevator pitch' - after this session we want you to leave feeling confident and inspired.
Each year, Alberta Music curates DOWNLOAD, a series of seminars, panels, workshops, and one-on-one mentorship opportunities designed to create opportunities and build upon the business and professional skills of our talented and hard-working music community. As a benefit Our events are provided free of cost to members of Alberta Music, and non-members may attend for a fee. Pre-registration for this free event is required.
