Beauty, Desire & Being Seen

Most conversations about beauty seem to go in one of two directions:

Beauty is superficial or Love yourself exactly as you are!

Both feel incomplete.

Many of us genuinely enjoy beauty.

We want to feel attractive.
We enjoy being admired, desired, and seen.
We spend time on our appearance.
We notice beauty in others and in ourselves.

At the same time, beauty can bring insecurity, privilege, exclusion, power, longing, comparison, and shame.

There is something deeply human there.

This workshop is an invitation to explore beauty not as a problem to solve, but as a lived experience.

Together, we will explore questions such as:

• When do I feel most beautiful?
• Who taught me what beauty is?
• What happens when I feel seen?
• What happens when I don't?
• What doors has beauty opened for me?
• What doors has it closed?
• Why are many of us ashamed of wanting to feel beautiful?
• When does caring about beauty become self-expression, pleasure, or play?
• When does it become obsession?
• What assumptions do we make about beauty, attractiveness, and worth?

Through movement, creative expression, reflection, playful exercises, and shared experiences, we'll explore beauty not only as an idea, but as something we experience in our bodies, relationships, and everyday lives.

We'll experiment with being seen.
Notice what attracts our attention.
Explore the bodies we show and the parts we hide.
Play with self-expression, presence, and adornment.
And perhaps discover forms of beauty that can't be captured by a mirror.

Not a lecture.
Not therapy.
Not a debate.

Just a space for honest exploration, curiosity, and connection.

Because perhaps beauty is neither a trap nor a virtue.

Perhaps it is a relationship.

A relationship with ourselves, with others, with desire, with power, with aging, with culture, and with belonging.
