Calligraphy is the art of giving form to alphabetical characters in an expressive, harmonious and skillful manner. Modern calligraphy ranges from functional hand-lettered inscriptions and designs to fine-art pieces.
For Adults and Teens - For beginners
The Calligraphy Classes have been divided into 3 sets of courses (4 classes each).
The first course is a beginner’s course where you will learn how to create refined writings using all the letters of “Al-Rek2a” + “Diwani” + “Al-Naskh” + “Farsi” styles using specialized calligraphy bamboo pens and paper. Duration 4 Classes.
The Second Course is the Intermediate course where you will learn how to incorporate all the letters you have learnt in the Beginners course making them into words and sentences. Duration 4 Classes.
The Third Course is the advanced course and you will be given 1 canvas to make your final artwork on. This advanced course will teach you how to make compositions and shaping of the words into a design that will later on be painted on the canvas. Duration 4 Classes.
Students should bring their own calligraphy pen (size 3).
Mohamed El Shimi
Mohamed graduated from the Faculty of Arts in Helwan and the Faculty of Arts Department of Islamic Archaeology in Ain Shams University. He has done studies in:
- Calligraphy and Islamic art - Mohamed Ibrahim School for Arabic Calligraphy in Alexandria - Prince Charles School in Egypt - Studies in porcelain and studies in stained glass in Al Fustat center of Ceramics - Manuscripts at the Library of Alexandria.
Arabic calligraphy professor in Bayt El Ainy from 2000 until 2006 - Cultural Development Fund.
Participated in the exhibitions: Youth Salon in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003 - Alexandria Library from 2005 until now - Arts Palace Egyptian Opera House in 2004 and 2005 - Creativity Center in Alexandria from 2005 until now - IRCICA - Turkey in 2006 and 2008 - Hall Salah Taher - Arabic Music Festival in 2008, 2009 and 2010 - Art Soul from 2010 to 2011 - Art Cafe from 2011 until now.
