- **Event Description**: People experiencing regularly high levels of psychological distress, repetitious exposure to trauma, negative attachment experiences, and ongoing poor mental health, will often present to services as 'complex' and 'challenging', which in turn can result in problematic engagement with services.

When these 'complex needs' intersect with harmful substance use, isolation, homelessness, domestic violence, physical health issues and other psychosocial challenges, the persons mental health worsens and engagement becomes more difficult. 

These complex needs require skilled and knowledgeable clinical and support workers, guided by effective practices that can increase safety, enhance engagement and create hope.
