Come write yours in Bosa, a stunning seaside village on the western coast of Sardinia, where the freshwater Temo River flows into the turquoise Mediterranean Sea. Nestled among cobblestone streets and pastel-colored houses, Bosa is home to a centuries-old tradition of cantu a cuncordu—Sardinia’s haunting form of sacred polyphonic singing.

This week-long retreat invites you into deep cultural immersion through:
🎼 Daily songwriting sessions + rotating co-writing partnerships
🧘 Morning yoga tailored for musicians and performers
🎤 Evening song circles + a final open-air concert in the piazza
🎶 A cantu a cuncordu workshop with Sardinian master Luigi “Gigi” Oliva
🌿 A guided riverside hike ending with reflection and song by the sea

You’ll leave with up to five new co-written songs, crafted in collaboration with fellow participants and facilitators, and deeply informed by Sardinia’s sonic and cultural landscape.

🍽️ Daily life includes:

👥 Your Facilitators:

Kristina Jacobsen, PhD, is a singer-songwriter, cultural anthropologist, and the author of Sing Me Back Home: Ethnographic Songwriting and Sardinian Language Politics (University of Toronto Press & NeoClassica 2024), published in both English and Italian. A fluent Italian speaker and former Fulbright Artist-Scholar in Sardinia, she is the founder of the Sing Me Back Home retreats and leads the songwriting major at the University of New Mexico. Kristina has been nominated for four New Mexico Music Awards (Western, Folk, Americana, Country) and brings her passion for language, co-creation, and intercultural musical connection to every retreat she leads.

Gianfranco Cossu, Songwriter-in-Residence, is a guitarist and songwriter from Sassari, Sardinia. He began his career in 2001 with the trio Nasodoble, and has since recorded original works across genres—from solo albums like Inquiete Rumorose Finzioni to collaborations with jazz and improvisational musicians. His recent projects include Coi delfini del cielo (2020), the single Lettera a Marì (2021), and Fenotoli – Sign & Sing (2023), a visual-musical collaboration where improvised drawings are interpreted by 20 musicians. Before joining the team, Gianfranco attended Songs of Sardegna as a participant for two consecutive years.

👥 Facilitatori:
