This ride is planned as a training session to improve / maintain fitness (depending on your current level). We also aim to work at riding as a group, either 2x2, single file or through and off where roads &amp; gradients allow.

This ride will be faster than the social rides but not as rapid as the WNRs and will try to keep the group together as much as possible. Stronger riders may have to sit up at times, the rest of us should expect to work a bit harder than usual! The strong guys &amp; gals can burn their remaining matches on the last hill before home in a race home.

Cafe stop after the ride, in Buxton, will be an option (for everyone to make their excuses why they weren't on a good day ?)

The ride will be aimed at the stronger riders in the club, ie those that are interested in training and getting faster. I would expect that we would average around 20mph while riding through and off on the flat. However, it won't be just for the very strongest in the club. 

The aim of the ride will be to ride at a steady and consistent pace, keeping everyone together. The route will finish with a climb where the group is likely to break up and everyone can ride to their own max effort before regrouping to ride easy back to Buxton.

We will try to stick to a route that is mostly flat which will make it easier to ride at a good pace and keep everyone together.

The ride will start with a warm up (that's never happened before on a Buxton CC ride that I've been on!!) before starting to up the pace and ride through and off

If anyone is struggling with the pace, first option is for them to skip turns and sit on the back. Knowing which parts of the route to do this on is a skill that comes from experience. If they still can't stay on, the group will knock the pace down a bit.

Good communication between riders is important
