As the nights draw in its easy to get used to staying in on the sofa, but there is something really special about heading out into the hills under the light of the full moon. Why not come and see for yourself! This is the third of our Full Moon (monthly) Torch Walk series for Winter 2025/26.
Led by a professional qualified leader, the group will take a 5 mile / 8 km loop from Holcombe, Bury. We will start along the base of Holcombe Moor, before ascending onto the moor, passing the Ellen Strange Memorial cairn and Pilgrim's Cross stone. You will have the opportunity to learn about these historical landmarks from your local guide. From there we will cross Holcombe Moor, over Harcles Hill and visit Peel Tower before descending back to Holcombe.
Paths are varied including wide farm tracks, grassy bits which may be boggy, a steep descent and cobbled road. It does have a some climb in this route, but there are a no stiles on this route. The total elevation is 190m / 575ft.
This route is family-friendly and suitable for ages 7+.
Well behaved, friendly dogs welcome, however, please use non-retractable leads or keep them short to reduce risk of the leads getting tangled round other participants legs.
Tickets are limited, cost £8 per adult / £5 per child and must be booked in advance using the ticket link. These small-group guided walks are professionally led by a qualified Mountain Leader and Outdoor First Aider / Mental Health First Aider, with full PL insurance.
Details of what to bring and where to meet will be emailed on booking, but please get in touch if you need further details beforehand. We walk in ALL weather, so please do take note of the Kit List that will be sent out on booking. We do have spare head torches, but if you have your own that would be useful.
