Silver Fox Training has been delivering accredited First Aid training courses, through the awarding organisation ITC First for over 20 years. It has been working with, and supporting Forest School providers for 16 years.
The director, Andy Forsyth has a background in outdoor education and is a Forest School practitioner.
The course has been designed specifically to meet the needs of Forest School Leaders.
The course is 16 hours and is in keeping with the requirements of other outdoor national governing bodies.
This course prepares candidates to deal with incidents in the outdoors and in potentially remote outdoor settings.
Emphasis will be made with dealing with both adults and children (By definition children covers ages 1 – pre-puberty)
Child related illnesses will be covered, as will burns, poisons, foreign objects in the eye, hypothermia as well as other outdoor illnesses.
As the course covers adult issues and will not cover infants (0 – 12 months) it will therefore not be a true Paediatric course and hence will not be transferable to Early Years statutory requirements for Paediatric first aid.
The course is a mix of presentation and practice in delivery, you will be given opportunities to ‘assess for danger!’ and practice first aid on each other throughout the 2 days!
On the second day you will apply your first aid knowledge in an outdoors context in different first aid scenarios.
9am - 6pm each day
Cost: £170.00 per person
Bring your own packed lunch & refreshments.
All Covid-19 guidance will be followed and spaces are limited for safety reasons.
As much of the training as possible will take place outside in The Foundry grounds, depending on the weather.
