- **Event Description**: A nationwide STEM program, students compete in engaging hands-on activities involving principles of science, engineering and technology.About this EventGet involved in the 2026 Science and Engineering Challenge!The Science and Engineering Challenge is a nationwide STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) program founded by the University of Newcastle and run in partnership with Rotary Clubs and Deakin University. The program is designed to encourage students to select STEM subjects in their VCE years.Teams of year 9 & 10 students students participate in an exhilarating day competing against other schools in fun and engaging hands-on activities including such as:designing an earthquake-proof housebuilding a bridgeproviding electricity to a cityand mastering the art of indigenous fish traps.Up to eight schools compete on a single Challenge Day, with each school registering one team of 16 to 32 students. Schools attend for that day only.
