In today's competitive research landscape, the ability to articulate the significance and relevance of one's research is increasingly important. This workshop, designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to communicate the impact of your research effectively, offers practical benefits. You will learn what makes compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences, a skill that can significantly enhance your visibility and influence within the academic community and beyond.
The first half of the session will delve into the intricacies of impact narratives, exploring their purpose, structure, and key components. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the genre of impact narratives, learning how to tailor their messaging to different stakeholders and effectively convey their research's societal, economic, and/or cultural significance. Through interactive discussions and case studies, attendees will uncover best practices for articulating impact clearly, concisely, and persuasively.
The second half of the session will explore impact pathways within the context of the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) and VYT format. While the workshop is open to all academic researchers, this portion will provide participants with practical tools and techniques for considering how to discuss their research’s impact potential within the 3MT presentation.
Whether you are a seasoned researcher looking to refine your communication skills or a graduate student seeking to make your mark in the academic world, this workshop offers valuable insights and actionable strategies for building your research impact narrative.
