This building has Bass running through its bricks. It started life as the Brewer-in-Charge’s house for William Bass, became a malt store, and by 1826 was cellaring legendary Bass Imperial Stout. The brewers would nip over from the brewery for a cheeky pint long before the public were allowed in.

On Saturday 4th April 2026 we’re marking National Bass Day by creating a Time Capsule that will stay buried until 2046 – 20 years from now!
