Celebrate our planet with a day of outdoor adventure, and creativity at our Earth Day & Art Celebration!
This family-friendly event brings together nature exploration and hands-on art experiences that foster appreciation for the world around us.
Program Schedule:
Nature Inspired Art Table- 10AM-2PM
Join Just Be You Art Studio and the Fairview Arts Council from 10-2 at their booth to create your own nature-inspired art, and while your artwork dries, enjoy participating in our other activities!
Guided Nature Hike 10:30
Join park staff at the Jim Bailey Trailhead to learn about native plants and animals and discover simple ways that you can protect native habitats! This trail is approximately 0.75 miles long and is suitable for all ages. Participants should wear closed toed shoes that are comfortable for hiking.
Stream Exploration 11:30
Roll up your sleeves and splash into a supervised creek stomp! Participants will explore aquatic habitats and learn about the importance of clean waterways.
Participants will meet park staff near the visitor center "Iron Mike" statue, where we will walk over to the creek to explore. For this activity, dress with the chance of getting wet and wear shoes that will be suitable for the water.
Birds of Prey Talk 12:30
Meet our resident birds of prey up close and learn about their role in maintaining healthy ecosystems. This interactive presentation offers a unique opportunity to see these incredible raptors up close. Participants will meet park staff near the stage located behind the visitor center.
How to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle 1:30
Join park staff inside the visitor center for a presentation on the importances of reducing, reusing and recycling, and learn how small changes in your home can make a huge difference!

Self-Guided Hike on the Jim Bailey Story Book Trail
The Jim Bailey trail is perfect for little ones learning or loving to read! The trail is home to storybook panels that have the book Miss Maple's Seeds. This trail is 0.75 miles and starts at the Visitor Center!
Self-Guided Nature Scavenger Hunt
Grab a scavenger hunt checklist from inside the Visitor Center and explore the park, checking things off as you find them! Remember, to preserve our good nature, simply check off when you see something on the list, do not collect any items!
Come dressed for outdoor activities and bring a reusable water bottle. Let’s hike, create, explore, and celebrate together!
