Black 'n Dekker combines Melanie Dekker's "Voice Like Chocolate" with Rob Blackburn's "Sticky Toffee" piano stylings, creating a spirited duo with a DIY theme that celebrates the craft of music-making.
Sunday, January 18, 5 PM to 8 PM
Steamworks - The Brewery
3845 William St, Burnaby
Instruments: (guitar & banjo, keys), percussive devices, apparatus (chordophones, electrophorus, Idiophones & paraphernalia), gadgets, contraptions (doohickeys & thingamajigs), unintentional trappings, mechanisms (usually their own digits & techniques), occasional seasonal gimmicks, vocal cords, and songs they really like.
These two have played in various bands unceasingly, and they attended prestigious music universities…so they have earned all the notes they play, even the accidentals:)! Both have toured internationally with various projects (Melanie’s own worldwide following of her personal catalogue speaks for itself), performed and recorded with globally-renowned artists and strive to continue a musical path with their audience-inclusive show.
No need to bring your own tool kit, just enthusiasm.
They like to reinvigorate their own love for live music by presenting songs from all decades and Melanie’s albums, with their own impromptu charm.
