The couple’s lives and marriage are also the subject of Vermont Reads 2026: Charity and Sylvia by acclaimed graphic novelist Tillie Walden.This discussion is in advance of the Vermont Symphony Orchestra’s concert at the Flynn on September 18, featuring the premiere of Assad’s work, commissioned by Vermont Humanities, Vermont Arts Council, and VSO.The talk is free and open to all – students, faculty, staff, and the general public!The event begins at 2:15 pm and will last until 3:45 pm.Assad’s work, Summerland, will be performed at the Flynn Center on Friday, September 18. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at www.flynncenter.org, student discounts are available. This talk is sponsored by the New England Humanities Consortium and the UVM Humanities Center.Paid public parking for this event is available at the UVM Gutterson Garage off Spear Street, a ten-minute walk to the UVM Recital Hall.
