Starting from the Minidoka Dam Boat Ramp in Rupert, Idaho and finishing at the Riverside Resort and RV Park in Burley, Idaho

CASH PRIZES for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners
$50/contestant, 80% Payout

Sample Payout
100 contestants = $5,000 total pot
80% of $5,000 goes to the winners
The remaining $4,000 gets split 60%, 30%, 10% or 
Sample 1st place = $2,400
Sample 2nd place = $1,200
Sample 3rd place = $400

The more racers, the bigger the CASH PRIZES

T-shirts are $30 and can ONLY be purchased at registration.
Paddle for the bragging rights!

RULES/INSTRUCTIONS:
The race is approximately 21 miles.
Start: Minidoka Dam Boat Ramp, next to the Minidoka National Wildlife Refuge

Participants can check-in starting at 7am to register, but must arrive no later than 8am to get checked in. 

You will drop off your kayaks at the Minidoka Boat Ramp, then go park your vehicle.
We will shuttle you the .25 miles from the parking lot back to the boat ramp.
  
Must be in the water by 8:45am, 
Starting Whistle goes off at 9am and you can then, and only then, cross the Starting Line. 

All contestants will be starting off in your kayaks, in the water.

All contestants must follow the designated course, from the Minidoka Dam Boat Docks directly to The Riverside Resort and RV Park, wherein the finish line will be clearly marked. First to come on land and ring the finish bell wins, consecutively, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.

Allowable Kayaks:
- Sit in or sit-on-top kayaks are allowed to compete.
- Recreational, touring, fishing and racing kayaks are allowed to compete.
- No motorized propulsion.
- No foot paddle powered kayaks.
- Oar powered kayaks only.
- No assistance from another watercraft unless specifically authorized by race officials or law enforcement as non-disqualifiable given the situation.

Required Safety Equipment:
- US Coast Guard-approved PFD/life jacket worn at all times
- Whistle or other sound-producing device
- Properly secured kayak
- Paddle
- Your own drinking water/hydration

Recommended: 
Phone or other emergency communication device in a waterproof case

Assistance Rules:
Allowed:
-	Eating
-	Briefly stopping on shore
-	Receiving medical assistance
-	Re-entering the kayak after a capsize

Not Allowed:
-	Getting towed, even from law enforcement
-	Being pushed or pulled by another vessel
-	Leaving the course and re-entering somewhere downstream
-	Switching kayaks during the race

Capsize rule
If you capsize, you may recover your kayak and continue the race, provided you remain on the designated course
If you cannot safely re-enter, Signal for assistance, a Safety personal may assist you, but may not pull you forward in the route.
Accepting emergency assistance does not automatically mean disqualification. However, if a racer receives transportation downstream, they’re out of the competitive race.

Time Limit:
You have 9 hours to finish the race. Anyone who does not cross the finish line by the cutoff time is considered DNF (Did Not Finish)

Disqualification
A racer can be disqualified for
-	Failure to wear a PFD
-	Unauthorized assistance
-	Taking a shortcut 
-	Intentional interference with another racer
-	Dangerous or reckless behavior
-	Fighting or poor sportsmanship behavior
-	Failure to follow instructions from safety personnel
-	Failing to complete the designated course
-      Switching kayaks, you must start & finish the course with the same kayak

Weather & River Safety
Race officials have the authority to delay the start, shorten the race, stop the race or cancel the event due to weather or safety concerns that would make the race unsafe. If the race is cancelled due to safety concerns and advice from law enforcement, contestant fees will be applied to the rescheduled date.  Canceling the race would be an absolutely last resort.
