We’re delighted to launch a brand-new event for 2026: the Burley Wassail, created in collaboration between New Forest Cider and the New Forest Green Man Association.
Wassailing is an old winter tradition, celebrating the apple trees, the land and the community that tends it. This year, we’re bringing that spirit to Burley with an evening that blends folklore, food, music and the magic of the New Forest in winter.
📅 Saturday 17th January 2026
⏰ 4pm – 10.30pm
📍 New Forest Cider, Burley
The evening will begin with arrivals from 4pm, and the orchard procession will start at 4.30pm, led by the Green Men. Expect singing, noise, ceremony and a few familiar touches of New Forest folklore.
Afterwards, we’ll warm up with a hearty chilli supper (meat or veg), a mulled cider or apple juice, and settle in for live music from Trav Cats from 7pm onwards.
This is our first year hosting the Wassail together, and we’re hoping it becomes something special for the village and our wider community. Everyone is welcome — just remember to dress warmly and wear footwear suitable for muddy, uneven ground.
