This two-hour in person workshop explores Understanding Inclusion and Advocacy.
This workshop highlights key issues that affect carers and those they support, focusing on inclusion, exclusion, discrimination, stigma, and advocacy. Inclusion ensures equal opportunity and value for all, while exclusion and discrimination occur when people are unfairly treated or left out due to traits like disability, race, or mental health.
These issues can impact both carers and the individuals they care for. Stigma — negative attitudes or beliefs toward certain conditions — can lead to judgment, isolation, and barriers to support, affecting the well-being of both carers and those they support. Advocacy is essential; it means speaking up for the rights and needs of others and oneself. Carers play a vital role in challenging injustice, ensuring fair treatment, and promoting a more inclusive and respectful society.
Please note: You must be registered with Carer Gateway to attend (we can assist with new registrations for eligible participants).
