Blind dates aren’t always successful or enjoyable, but they show you’re willing to take a chance on finding companionship or love. Today with online dating, there’s a photo of potential mates, so does that still count as a blind date if you already have a visual? Way back before computers, I was fixed up with someone I talked with on the phone for a week before we met, and I wondered how his appearance would influence the fact that I already really liked him. Would I be shallow if I didn’t like his looks? Would I be passing on a great relationship if I rejected him based on his appearance?
As it happens, I did like his looks, so I wasn’t put to the test, but that brings me to the other theme – is love blind? Does it allow you to overlook physical or personality traits that aren’t appealing? If friends or loved ones have a very different take on your beloved, do you listen?
