Dressing to Disrupt is a SIX-PART retro sewing workshop series where we’ll make a swing dress together, slowly and properly, in sections across six fortnightly sessions.
This isn’t just a sewing class - it’s slow sewing, vintage technique, fashion history, and real conversation.
We’ll look at how fashion is shaped by the world around it (class, gender roles, power, politics, respectability), and how what we wear now still sends signals - about identity, confidence, and how we’re read in public.
This series is for people with basic sewing skills - if you know how to thread a sewing machine and sew in a straight line, you're in!

You’ll need to purchase the required pattern (details provided on booking), and bring your own fabric and sewing supplies (a shopping list will be sent).
Sewing machines can be provided, please check the "borrow" option when booking if you need one.
Each session includes guided sewing time, skill-building, and discussion designed to be genuinely connective.
You’ll leave the final session with a finished dress you’re proud of, stronger construction skills, and a deeper understanding of what it means to choose vintage style in a modern world. Plus, a group of new friends!
