Artist biography : 

Talent Kapadza was born February 28, 1988 in Mt Darwin; a multi-award-winning Zimbabwean Visual Artist, author, and curator known for his pioneering work in Tachism and Supra-Expressionism. Currently a Resident Artist at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo, Kapadza’s practice serves as a bridge between everyday human experience, spirituality, and the evolving landscape of technology,
Kapadza is recognized for his mastery of texture and material. His work challenges traditional boundaries by integrating industrial materials; synthetic resin and diamond glass. Organic Elements; Found objects and mixed media.
His conceptual themes are covering ‘Heal the world’ project that focuses on the intersection of art and wellness, advocating for the healing of the spirit, body, and soul through visual resonance.
With a career spanning over a decade, Kapadza has established himself as a central figure in the contemporary African art scene; Exhibitions featured in over 100 group exhibitions globally and 7 solo exhibitions.
Kapadza is a recipient of prestigious honours, including the National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA), Intwasa Art Festival, Wild geese Art Festival, Visual Artist Association of Bulawayo (VAAB), German Embassy and the National Gallery of Zimbabwe (NGZ).
Currently has a future direction looking toward 2027, commencing his Doctorate Degree majoring in PHD by publication distant learning at Atlantic International University (AIU). Kapadza is also preparing for the 10th anniversary celebration of his private collection. This upcoming project themed “Celebration” aims to animate the combined action between contemporary fine art advertising, and marketing communication, further expanding the utility of his visual language.


Artist statement
"My work explores the line as a fundamental force chromosome, the intersection of soul consciousness and digital age. I navigate the tension between chaos and control, using visual disturbance to mirror the complexities of the spiritual realm and our evolving connection to technology.
As I transition with various body of work, my work shifts from documenting and revolve around a fragmented sense of self. The grotesque mask serves as a bridge between the conscious self and subconscious shadow. This body of work is a dialogue between the bone that broke and the mind that remained.
Each mask is a psychological map of the spiritual movement the world split open, and the slow grotesque beauty of the person who crushed out of wreckage unlike the traditional masks that aim for aesthetic beauty."
