- **Event Description**: Shoulder to Shoulder is an exhibition featuring 22 tattoo artists from Buffalo, New York and the surrounding area. Each artist was tasked with designing a back piece of something they have always wanted to tattoo. These pieces not only represent the tattooer who created it, but the Buffalo tattoo community as a whole in 2025. The artists were each provided with one of two forms, and given four months to compose their final artworks while reflecting on what makes a successful back piece and what large scale work means to them on both an artistic and personal level. These projects take commitment, determination, consistency and downright strength from both client and artist. Throughout a tattooers’ career, they develop in many aspects of the craft. Their drawing capabilities, their technical application of tattoos, as well as how they manage and interact with clients. All of these factors compound in the overall experience of the tattoo. An experience that holds the utmost importance when tattooing at a large scale. These types of projects require much more from both the artist and client than your average single session piece, and are not a journey for the faint of heart. This book explores the original works provided by a range of artists, some personal thoughts, and examples of their mastered media: tattooing. Thank you to all of the clients that allow us to continue to participate in this human experience. To connect through self expression and visual reverence. Know that both Client and Artist alike continue to accomplish these artistic endeavors “Shoulder to Shoulder.”
