- **Event Description**: Join us for an evening with novelist Sam Sussman!   Sam's debut novel Boy From the North Country was released to wide critical acclaim this fall.   Sam will be in conversation with Buffalo-based novelist Nishant Batsha.

Sussman wrote much  this novel  in a   walk-up apartment in Yorkville, Manhattan, in which his mother first lived in the early 1970s and much of Boy from the North Country takes place. Bob Dylan wrote parts of Blood on the Tracks in the apartment. The book is an ode to Sussman's mother and a reconsideration of his identity in light of revelations about his mother's relationship with Dylan.

Sussman's debut novel has been the talk of the literary world since its release in late September. Sussman grew up in a cabin off the grid in the Hudson Valley and went to SUNY Binghamton, Swarthmore, and then Oxford U. in London where  he wrote his M.Phil dissertation on Rousseau.
