This co-ed event welcomes everyone — moms, dads, kids, families, and community members — to come together in celebration and support of the important role mothers play in our community. ​​​​​​​​​​Saturday, May 9th, 2026 Free Kids Fun Run 10:00 am (Avery Parsons Field) 5k Runners & Walkers 10:30 am This 5K takes place on a mix of dirt and paved town trails and is stroller-friendly. Run, jog, walk, or stroller roll — all are welcome! The event is open to anyone who wants to celebrate moms and the incredible role they play in our community. The Kids Fun Run is free! Kids can decorate their own race bibs before the race inside the McGinnis Gym. The run will take place on the Avery Parsons Elementary field and will be approximately ½ mile. This community outreach event is a collaboration between the Staff Wellness Committee, the Avery Parsons Elementary's Parent Leadership Team, and local leaders from Trail Sisters. Together, we hope to create a connected, creative, and collaborative event that brings our community together. Post Race Fun: Join us in the McGinnis Gym for post race fun (kid crafts, snacks and giveaways). The Grove playground will also be open and available during the race for kids to play. No dogs are allowed in the area. Course Maps: Mother’s Day 5K & Family Fun Run Course Map Registration& Deferment If you register and are unable to participate in the event, you have these options: 1 - Let the race director know at least 48 hours in advance if you would like to defer to next year’s event (you will not receive a refund for this year but won't have to pay for next year). 2 - Forfeit your giveaway and your registration, considering it a donation. Weather Spring in Buena Vista can be unpredictable. The race will take place rain, snow, shine, or otherwise, so come prepared for Colorado spring weather. Pre and post run events will be in the McGinnis Gym. Animals & Pets Dogs are NOT allowed on any race course due to our race insurance. You can bring your furry friends to the Start/Finish Line, but please keep them controlled, at least 20 feet away from the Start/Finish Line, ​and on a leash at all times. They are not allowed inside school buildings or the playground area.
