Creative Writing Sessions (for children age 7-14)

Let’s ditch the grammar books, throw spelling rules out of the window and go crazy with words. Join local writer and teacher Nick Younger for a whole bunch of creative writing and wordy activities. It might get messy. It might get loud. And [whisper it] you might have fun.

£2 per session. Pre-booking essential via the library.

8th November: Blackout Poetry - Create ‘found’ poetry using different texts. Children scan for mini-story elements, highlight selected words, then illustrate around them.
15th November: Word Salad - Experiment by cutting out words & phrases from old magazines then piece them back together in new and surprising ways.
22nd November: Thumbnails - Learn some of the basic elements of stories and then use your understanding to write and illustrate summaries of your favourite film.
29th November: Dragon's Den - Everyday stationery items get repurposed as children develop exciting new products before pitching them to each other & the librarians.
