A hang és a mozgókép közötti árnyékzónából előlépve a The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble (TKDE) olyan zenét alkot, amely egy elfeledett álom érzetét kelti - a szürreális és a fennkölt között lebegve. A formációt 2000-ben Jason Köhnen és Gideon Kiers alapította; a projekt kezdetben klasszikus némafilmek - például a Metropolis és a Nosferatu - filmzenéinek élő, újraértelmezett megszólaltatására jött létre. Ebből nőtte ki magát az az együttes, amely később magát az atmoszféra fogalmát is újradefiniálta.
