Outside the concert hall. The piano placed in living spaces. A piano that blends into its surroundings — whether jazz, neoclassical, ambient, or electronic — without borders of sound or style. Pianists using contemporary techniques and exploring the instrument in new ways. And what better place than the legendary club Szimpla Kert, in the heart of Budapest. Inside Szimpla, concerts will take place in Le Salon, located on the first floor. Come have a drink, sink into the cushions, and stay for thirty minutes or a few hours, surrounded by soft and dreamlike music. This is the vision of Charmey: to bring to this remarkable place a selection of exceptional pianists from around the world — Italian, American, Argentinian, Hungarian, and more. From 8 PM until late into the night, music will flow from evening into sleep. Concerts are free, thanks to the support of Szimpla Kert and Balázs Latorczai, but donations are warmly welcome (cash, PayPal, Revolut). Music for today. 9:30 – 10:30 PM Flora Kapeller Short bio Flora Kapeller is a 22-year-old composer for piano and film music from Vienna, originally from Attersee in Upper Austria. Her goal is to tell stories through music and evoke emotions in her audience — sadness, joy, melancholy, nostalgia, alertness, or relaxation. She is fascinated by simple and effective melodies as well as complex rhythms, dreamy patterns, new soundscapes, and unusual harmonies. Her focus is on composing film music and solo piano pieces, but after her Erasmus semester in Berlin and a film-music internship in Cologne, she also discovered sound design and composing for larger ensembles. She particularly enjoys experimenting with sounds she has recorded herself. Her main musical inspirations include Hania Rani, Tigran Hamasyan, Hildur Guðnadóttir, and Ludwig Göransson. She began improvising on the piano at the age of two and started formal piano lessons at five, which sparked her desire to compose her own music. After graduating from high school with a focus on music, she studied media composition at the Vienna Music Institute. In 2025 she composed the score for her first short film, Selva Adentro by DestelloFilms (Victor Vargas, Wong Pablo). 11:00 PM – 12:30 AM Vaghy Short bio Classically trained pianist and composer Tamás Vághy only recently decided to bring his experimental solo project to a wider audience. Under the name vaghy, his compositions place the piano at the center, expanding its sound through electronic effects and vintage instruments. He first appeared with the vaghy ensemble, presenting a video series of works enriched with strings and vocals, while also performing in the pianoset project with Edina Palkovics and Máté Halász. In recent years he has been active as one of the main organizers of Piano Day Budapest, while continuing to experiment with new music and accumulating a large body of work. His first official release came in 2018, when Invisible Touch opened the Blue Spiral Records compilation The Minimal Piano Series. Since then he has performed alongside artists such as Lubomyr Melnyk, Lisa Morgenstern, Simeon Walker, James Gillespie, and iamyank. In 2020 he released his first single, Abandoned Forest, followed in 2022 by his debut album minimalism, released by Theque. His later album granum presents a series of refined improvisational piano works. 1:00 – 2:00 AM Edoardo Gastaldi Short bio Edoardo Gastaldi, born in 1998, is an award-nominated film music composer based in Venice, Italy. His music combines slow piano lines with deep ambient atmospheres, where post-classical minimalism meets layered cinematic textures. After several years of formal music studies, ranging from classical piano to music theory, he began publishing his own compositions in 2021. His sound explores the intersection of modern classical, ambient, and post-rock. Gastaldi’s artistic vision reflects a fascination with human fragility, paradoxes, and the complexity of existence. His influences include Johan Söderqvist, Hammock, Tony Anderson, Atli Örvarsson, Ronit Kirchman, Sigur Rós, John Cage, and Nils Frahm. In 2024 he composed the soundtrack for the multi-award-winning short film Etilismo, addressing the issue of chronic alcoholism among youth.
